Martina Savio

Programme Manager, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine

Martina Savio joined the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 2015 as Research Information Manager supporting LSTM Research Committee and the preparation for REF2021. In 2017 Martina moved to the Department of Clinical Sciences where she now manages the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Lung Health and TB in Africa (IMPALA). She is responsible for the overall day-to-day management for IMPALA and she oversees the development and operational execution of detailed work-plans, tracking milestones and budgets.

Prior to joining LSTM, Martina worked as a Research Support Officer at the University of Liverpool where she coordinated financial and non-financial aspects of research projects throughout their lifecycle. Originally from Italy, Martina obtained her BA in International Development from the University of Padova and her MPhil in Peace & Conflict Transformation from the University of Tromsø. She has served as an advocate for child protection in relation to Child Labour and working conditions and has worked extensively overseas in Ecuador, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cambodia working for International NGOs, as well as UN Agencies.
