
James Wilsdon is Professor of Research Policy and Director of Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield. He is a member of the Council of the Academy of Social Sciences and chairs its Policy Working Group. He is also vice-chair of the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA). Previously, he chaired the Campaign for Social Science, and led an independent UK government review of the role of metrics in the management of research, published in 2015 as The Metric Tide. He was Director of Science Policy at the Royal Society from 2008 to 2011.
