INORMS was formed in 2001 to bring together research management societies and associations from across the globe. Its purpose is to enable interactions, the sharing of good practice, and joint activities between the member societies, to the benefit of their individual memberships.
The objectives of INORMS are:
- to internationalise the body of knowledge on research management
- to exchange best practice
- to develop international approaches to supporting the research enterprise.
INORMS holds a biennial congress, hosted by one of its member societies and creating an exciting opportunity for research leaders, managers and administrators to come together.

ARMA is the professional association for research leaders, managers and administrators in the UK. We currently have over 2500 individual members from around 250 organisations, from universities and funding bodies to independent research institutions. Our mission is to enhance the profession of research management, and to facilitate excellence in research through identifying, establishing and exchanging good practice.
Members of ARMA benefit from a range of opportunities to network, develop their professional expertise and skills, and build their CV. We run a full programme of training workshops, including webinars and online resources. Our Special Interest Groups provide invaluable ways for members to interact, share resources and develop new approaches. Members can get formal recognition for their learning through our Ofqual-accredited qualifications.
