What is leadership and what are the characteristics of effective leadership in research and higher education?
As part of the INORMS Congress we will be running a one-day Leadership Summit specifically for leaders or aspiring leaders, who are helping to set the research management agenda in their areas of influence across the globe.
Experienced and recognised guest speakers will share and present their stories of leadership, particularly across international borders, and ample time will be available for panel discussions.
The focus of the Congress will be on the challenges of supporting global research at a time when the rapid rate of globalisation is being challenged by new forms of national protectionism. The best academic researchers have always sought to work across international boundaries; funders and policy-makers are increasingly seeking to work collaboratively to support global research initiatives; and the challenge for us in the professional services is to provide the very best support for our academic colleagues in accessing and taking advantage of those opportunities, facilitating collaborations and removing barriers.
Panel chair:
- Ehsan Masood Knight Science Journalism Fellow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Guest speakers:
- Rebecca Endean Strategy Director, UK Research and Innovation
- Norifumi Miyokawa Senior Research Administrator, Hiroshima University
- Sukanya Kumar-Sinha Deputy Director, RCUK India
- Christina Miller Director, UK Research Office (UKRO)
