A graduate of University of London, Richard had a stint as a biochemist at the University of Bristol before embarking on a 30 year career in research administration and management. His roles have included Education Officer at the Institute of Biology and Programme Manager at the UK Research Councils. At UWE, Bristol he has helped develop the University’s research support services and currently heads up university-wide Research Administration and Graduate School offices. Richard is a long serving member of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) and has presented at a number of ARMA and AUA conferences. He participated in the Association of Commonwealth Universities International Research Management Benchmarking Programme and was an invited speaker on ‘REF and Impact’ at Chalmers University, Gothenburg He has a particular interest in the professional identify of research managers and has been a regular contributor to the Leadership Foundation programme for Research Managers.
