John Gyapong is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana. Prior to this, he was for five years, the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Innovation and Development at the University of Ghana, where he oversaw significant development and professionalisation of the research management function. He studied medicine in Ghana and Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
For over 20 years he has practised as a doctor in Ghana, rising to becomes the Director of Research and Development of the Ghana Health Service. His main area of research is infectious disease epidemiology.
