Melanie Knetsch is ESRC’s strategic lead for Innovation and Interdisciplinarity. Her responsibilities include developing ESRC’s thinking and activities around interdisciplinary, challenge-led activities and improving the visibility of the portfolio. Her role also includes creating opportunities for social scientific knowledge to influence the formation of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Melanie is also ESRC’s strategic lead for working with Innovate UK.Previously Melanie led on developing and delivering ESRC’s Knowledge Exchange and Public Engagement, been seconded to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) as part of the Newton Fund programme management team, and worked in the RCUK office in India.
