Dr Diana Leighton is Head of Research Excellence and Research Strategy within LJMU’s Research & Innovation Services (RIS). The role has many facets (including REF, strategy and performance evaluation), but has an overarching objective to promote a strong and developmental research culture across the University, including continuous improvement in the quality and impact of LJMU’s research outputs. Diana has been in in-post for six years, having previously held Faculty and School-based research management roles since 2000. Diana holds two doctorates (one science-based, the other in the social sciences), has an MBA and started her academic journey as a sport science undergraduate.
