Arwen Bate joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in 2012. She manages the pre-award service and has a background in project development for regional development agencies and European funding. Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining internal submission policies, procedures, and guidance for research and academic staff as well as working with overseas partners to develop research proposals. She serves on LSTM’s Intention to Submit Committee (which approves all proposal submissions) and previously led the secretariat for LSTM’s Research Ethics Committee from 2012-15. She has coordinated large international research proposals to funders including DFID, UK Research Councils, NIHR, Horizon 2020.
