Local engagement on a global scale: the Global Citizens’ Advisory Panel

Grace Williams - Engaged Research Manager, University of Exeter

The Global Challenges Research Fund has become a key driver in international collaborations within higher education. At the same time international impact is the holy grail of the UK Research Excellence Framework assessment exercise. At the University of Exeter, we are developing a Global Citizens’ Advisory Panel (GCAP). Embedded within the new Global Systems Institute (GSI), GCAP will co-direct GSI’s strategic priorities and be embedded within individual GSI-related research projects. We want to share our journey to date in establishing a form of public engagement that will engage citizens’ on an international scale. What have we learned? What have we done? What hasn’t worked?
