Gender and diversity in the world of RMA is often keyword for more women in research. In this session, we would like to broaden out the discussion.
Several studies have shown the value of the internationalisation of research, but many RMAs have also experienced the challenges of different cultures whether it comes to projects, recruitment, visiting scholars etc. One of the challenges arise when we welcome foreign researchers from countries where same sex relationships are not culturally accepted or perhaps even illegal to countries where LGBT+ citizens are generally accepted and can be open about their sexuality at their workplace.
This is a delicate matter and we hope to open the discussion on how to deal with a topic of many challenges: We do not want to reduce people to their sexuality; we do not want to patronize our foreign visitors; how do balance minorities’ rights, freedom of speech and freedom of religion; and create a workspace for everyone.
We will present the challenges shortly and open for a discussion with the participants and hear all the ideas and recommendations for actions.
The results will be shared for further collaboration and exchange of ideas.
