How might we develop better interdisciplinary collaboration between international partners?

Toby Scott - Facilitator, Know Innovation
Dr David Lomas - Facilitator, Know Innovation

The process of building a community of interest, identifying a shared challenge, aligning stakeholders and developing solutions is made much more complex by introducing international collaborators.

The workshop will have three goals: to identify the main barriers to international collaboration, to generate ideas that might be developed into solutions and to build a community of colleagues who might support themselves in the future.

The workshop will be facilitated and participant led to share experiences and identify solutions to collaborating virtually that encourage high-quality, novel research proposals.

We will be running a similar workshop at NORDP on 7-9th May in Washington USA and will invite research managers from that conference (one per table group) to participate virtually in this workshop using a range of virtual tools. The process will diverge around the problem before converging on a number of possible solutions while using the exercise to develop new insight, share solutions and learn practical techniques.

The output of the workshop will be a set of practical tools that participants can apply immediately as well as the development of a community of RM’s with similar interests.
