General information


In June, the climate is mild, with average temperatures of 13C. However, the weather can be variable, so layers are advisable, and a rain jacket can be useful.


Sterling is used in Edinburgh – units are pounds and pence. All major credit cards are widely accepted. Banknotes issued from both Scottish and UK banks are accepted.


In the event of industrial disruption, the meeting organisers cannot be held responsible for any losses incurred by delegates. The programme will be correct at the time of printing. The organisers reserve the right to alter the programme as necessary.

Please note that we are unable to provide travel, accommodation or subsistence expenses to those chairing or presenting workshops, panel sessions, pecha kucha sessions or posters. Those accepted will, however, be able to claim the Early Bird rate, provided they respond by the date indicated in the acceptance letter.

Sales taxes (VAT) are included in the price your see displayed in shops and restaurants in Edinburgh. In some cases, you may be able to reclaim the VAT on your purchases when you leave the country. Details can be found here:

Travel & Health Insurance

The Congress does not provide insurance to delegates. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance policies to cover medical and travel expenses.
